Editor's review
A tool that helps you quickly and conveniently change your network settings depending on requirements or location.
Features: Net Profile Switch essentials switches your network profile depending on your current location, including but not limited to the IP address settings, DNS server, Gateway information, Proxy settings (with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera browsers), Security (Firewall) Settings, network drive mappings, and more. It can also store things specific to a network such as printer addresses, an SMTP server, an FTP server, etc. It is especially suited to users who tend to have networks of different kinds at different places (example: Static addressing at home, DHCP in the office / school and so on).
In Net Profile Switch once you are connected to a given network with the appropriate settings, you can save the settings in a profile for that network. Then, in the future it is simply a question of selecting the right profile and all the settings will be applied for smooth sailing to network connectivity.
Overall: This is a good tool for people who frequently work from many different locations. For example one may work from an office, or at home, or at numerous different cafes. Similarly, this tool is equally useful for people who access the internet from many different locations: home, office, school, cafes, airports, etc. This is just requires you to go to a single place to switch to the new network settings. Note that the Windows network management does perform the same function to an extent, and with preferred networks, it in fact does not even require input from the user when you move to a different location. This tool however functions better if you tend to connect to different DNS servers, through a wired network, where a static address is being used; the switch between static IP address and DHCP is also performed quickly and without hassles.
